When you are clear on the vision that you have for your company or your team, there are a few questions that you must have answered before you even think about approaching your people.

Creating a compelling vision is only just the first step, the real challenge lies in getting everyone aligned, motivated and committed to working towards it.

So, how do you do it? I hear you say...

After working with numerous Leaders and people in the public eye, here are my top tips on how to steer your team towards your unique vision!

1. Communicate Your Vision Clearly and Frequently

A vision that is not communicated is a vision that does not exist for your team. You need to ensure that your team understands what the vision is, why it matters and how it benefits them, your customers and the organisation itself.

Use a variety of channels – such as team meetings, emails, newsletters, videos and visual aids to reinforce your message consistently.

Here’s how:

  • Share personal stories that connect to your vision. For instance, recount a pivotal moment when the vision became clear to you.

  • Regularly revisit the vision during team meetings and tie it to ongoing work and priorities.

  • Use clear, simple language that resonates with everyone. Avoid jargon or overly abstract statements.

  • ALWAYS BE AUTHENTIC

2. Involve Your Team in Creating and Refining the Vision

People are more likely to support something they helped to create! Involve your team by actively seeking their input, feedback and suggestions as you develop or refine your vision.

When team members feel heard and valued, they are more likely to take ownership of the vision! (This is the same for parenting btw!)

Here’s how:

  • Host brainstorming sessions or workshops to gather ideas from the team.

  • Create opportunities for team members to align their personal goals with the overarching vision.

  • Ask for feedback on specific aspects of the vision, such as its feasibility or how it aligns with team strengths.

3. Show Your Team How They Contribute to the Vision

A vision only becomes actionable when team members see how their individual efforts contribute to it. Help your team connect the dots between their roles and the larger picture.

Here’s how:

  • Set clear objectives for each team member that are directly tied to the vision.

  • Regularly highlight specific examples of how individual contributions are advancing the vision.

  • Provide constructive feedback and celebrate wins – big or small, to show progress.

4. Lead by Example and Demonstrate Your Vision

As a leader, your actions set the tone for the team. Demonstrate the behaviours, values and commitment that your vision embodies. When your team sees you living the vision, they’ll be inspired to follow suit.

Here’s how:

  • Show passion and enthusiasm for the vision. Let your energy be contagious!

  • Make decisions and take actions that align with the vision, even when it’s challenging.

  • Hold yourself accountable to the same standards you set for your team.

Actions speak louder than words. Leading by example builds trust, credibility and a culture of AUTHENTICITY where the vision becomes more than just an abstract idea!

5. Celebrate Your Team's Achievements and Milestones

Acknowledging progress is essential for maintaining momentum and morale. Celebrating achievements reinforces your vision by highlighting how the team’s efforts are driving it forward.

Here’s how:

  • Publicly recognise individual and team contributions that align with the vision.

  • Celebrate both major milestones and smaller wins to sustain energy and enthusiasm.

  • Share success stories with other teams and stakeholders to amplify the impact.

Celebrating achievements strengthens team spirit and reinforces the belief that the vision is attainable while installing a sense of pride and loyalty to the team.

Here are 3 important qualities that every leader must learn...

  • Adaptability: Be open to refining your vision as circumstances evolve. A flexible vision is more resilient and enduring.

  • Empathy: Understand the challenges and concerns your team may face in working towards the vision. Address these proactively.

  • Consistency: Stay committed to the vision, even during tough times. Your consistency will keep the team grounded and focused.

Getting your team to see and work towards your vision requires more than just words. It involves clear communication, active involvement, leading by example and consistent reinforcement through recognition and celebration.

When your team feels connected to the vision and sees their role in achieving it, they will move forward with Purpose, Energy, and Commitment!

BE AUTHENTIC, BE EMPATHIC AND BE BOLD!

I believe in you and you must believe in your team – there is no limit to what you can achieve!

With affection,

Allegra Lite
